Attention: There are currently several variants of a worm spreading around via e-mail. Please do not open any attachments unless you are expecting them from the sender. Any messages from postmaster or The Post Office should be disregarded and deleted. Messages that ask you to fill out a form, or open a .zip should be deleted; they may often say they are from McAffee, this is a hoax.
Local-ISP's Technical Staff has created several filters to block as many of these messages as possible. We appreciate your help in containing this problem, and stopping its spread across our network. |

As of this time most if not all errors associated with the Mail software upgrade have been rectified. If you continue to have problems please contact the Technical Support department. Before doing so MAKE SURE that your log-in name on your email client is set to your FULL e-mail address (ex: support@localisp.com).
Users that used the Address Book feature in the previous version of Webmail should expect to have access to their Addresses today, we apologize for the inconvenience. Due to incompatibilities between the two formats, our staff is converting all address books manually.

To make your computer secure please ensure you do the following:

NOTICE: Problems caused by the recent slew of worms on the Internet are still occuring but are diminishing rapidly as people secure their computers. Local-ISP has taken precautions to protect our network and your service and will continue to do so until the threat is gone. Please note that these precautions will not affect normal activities such as web browsing, e-mail, FTP, or most other normal Internet functions.
If you are running MAC/OS, Linux, Unix, or anything other than Microsoft Windows you should not be affected by these worms. For those of you running Microsoft Windows, if you have not already done so we recommend you run the Microsoft Update utility to insure your system has all the latest security patches loaded. |

8/22/2003 17:21 |
ALERT: Due to the continuing and apparently expanding threat from the MSBlaster and Nachi worms Local-ISP has taken precautions to protect our network. Traffic on certain TCP and UDP ports exploited by these worms is being blocked. This does not affect normal web browsing, e-mail, FTP, or most other Internet functions however it may affect certain applications relying on the same services exploited by these worms. We appologize for any inconvenience this may caus.
If you already loaded the patch for MSBlaster (MS03-026) you should be protected from these worms. Local-ISP is STRONGLY advising all our customers to make sure your systems are both patched and cleaned! The patch can be found on Microsoft's web-site at http://www.microsoft.com and cleaners are available at http://www.symantec.com. Also, please note that the Nachi worm spreads through e-mail. PLEASE do not open e-mails with attachments that end in .pif or .scr!!! Most anti-virus software will filter these attachments out IF your software is up to date. We HIGHLY recommend you use anti-virus software on your system and keep it up to date! |
| |
8/21/2003 14:52 |
ALERT: There is a new worm called Nachi running around which exploits the same vulnerabilities as MSBlaster did but it's much more damaging. To protect our network we have blocked traffic on ports 69UDP and 707TCP. If you already loaded the patch for MSBlaster (MS03-026) you should not be affected by this new worm. If you have NOT loaded the patch PLEASE do so ASAP! The patch can be found on Microsoft's web-site at http://www.microsoft.com. |
| |
8/19/2003 18:12 |
Local-ISP has removed all filtering against the Blaster worm (the MS03-026 exploit) from our routers. It is vital that you install all necessary patches (from microsoft.com) if you have not already done so. |

The blaster worm is currently circulating the Internet, and it poses a very severe threat to all computers running Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, or XP. You can protect yourself by downloading the patch for MS03-026, from microsoft.com. If you have not installed this patch already, do so IMMEDIATELY. Local-ISP has taken steps to prevent the further spread of the worm on our network, but these are temporary measures and cannot protect you indefinitely. |
